How to Keep Your Holiday Glow Going Into Autumn

How to Keep Your Holiday Glow Going Into Autumn

The holiday is over. The glow doesn't have to be.

You know that first week back from holiday when your camera roll is full, your suitcase still isn't completely unpacked and you're trying very hard to pretend September isn't coming?

Same.

And if you've come home with that post-holiday glow, chances are you're also wondering: "How do I keep it looking good for as long as possible?"

There isn't a magic trick for permanently holding onto a tan, but there are some very sensible ways to keep your skin looking smooth, hydrated and radiant as summer starts disappearing.

Here's the post-holiday routine we're taking into autumn.

1. Moisturise like you mean it

Dry, flaky-looking skin isn't exactly giving fresh from Ibiza.

Make moisturising part of your morning and evening routine, particularly after showering. Choose something you actually enjoy using because, realistically, the best routine is the one you'll keep doing.

And don't forget the areas that always seem to get missed: shoulders, shins, elbows and décolletage.

2. Stop attacking your skin with everything in the bathroom

Coming home doesn't mean you need to immediately scrub every centimetre of your body.

Gentle exfoliation can help keep skin feeling smooth, but excessive scrubbing isn't necessary. Keep things simple and avoid suddenly introducing five aggressive products because your FYP told you to.

Your skin likes consistency more than chaos.

3. Hydration isn't just a summer thing

The temperature drops, and suddenly our water bottle gets abandoned.

Keep drinking water regularly throughout the day and continue with a consistent skincare routine. Autumn heating, cooler weather and changes in routine can all make this the time of year when you notice your skin feels different.

4. Don't ditch the SPF

Summer ending does not mean SPF gets retired until next June.

UV exposure still happens outside peak summer months. Keep appropriate sun protection as part of your routine and remember that nothing replaces sunscreen or other sun-protection measures.

Yes, even when it's cloudy.

5. Keep your beauty routine consistent

Holiday mode often means every routine disappears.

September is your opportunity to put the habits you actually enjoy back in place: skincare, haircare, movement, sleep and whatever supplements you've chosen to include in your routine.

If Optifil Tan Intensifying Gummies are already part of yours, there's no reason for the pouch to disappear just because the suitcase has gone back in the loft. The mango-flavoured gummies contain Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Biotin. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress and Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin.

The real September goal?

Not desperately trying to stay in August forever.

It's taking bits of your summer routine that made you feel good and carrying them into the new season.

Holiday glow: staying on the mood board.

Summer isn't over until you say it is.
